One of the very first places Joshua took me out on a date to was this little Italian restaurant in Monterey, California. I remember it as the first place he took me out to because our "first dates" were by my invitation. This little Italian restaurant, however, was something I had NOTHING to do with. It wasn't until years later (and years into our marriage) that I informed Joshua it was probably that little Italian restaurant that won me over.
"What do you mean?" he'd asked.
"The way to my heart apparently is through my stomach." :)
I simply LOVE food.
Now, there are some foods I will NOT eat because I have tried them and do not like nor care for them (ie. pickles, or anything pickled for that matter) And there are foods I will NOT try simply on personal principle (ie. liver and onions). I am not one to eat everything and anything because it is food. That stubborn little girl my parents raised still lives. However, I still think it is safe to say: I. Love. Food. I just don't think you can call me a foodie.
I didn't always like food though. Don't get me wrong, I ATE as a child. However, I was an INCREDIBLY picky eater growing up and preferred my meat and potatoes to anything else. Not that my parents didn't try to get vegetables into my diet, they did, I was just "particular". It wasn't until college that I deemed salads "good" or even "tasty". And I KNOW my parents will NEVER let me live down the carrots and the toilet incident.
(All I can say to that story is 1. I tried and 2. I would have succeeded if we had had a dog.)
Thankfully, times have changed and today I don't mind some of my vegetables. But only SOME. I still prefer my carrots raw and sliced in a salad, cooked in a soup, or mixed in with lettuce wraps. Cauliflower mashed potatoes aren't too bad and if I'm going to have a salad, there had better be some green onions, meat of SOME kind, and dressing on the side. Croutons really couldn't hurt either. The point though is I've learned to LIKE some of the foods I couldn't STAND eating and did what I could to get rid of them (even if I didn't check to make sure they'd flushed all the way; there now my parents don't have to tell you the story).
This is just my little space in a huge cyber world to share my recipes or discovery of recipes.
